The Lead Structural Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of all civil Engineering, Procurement, and Construction within the organization, and has a critical role in ensuring the successful completion of construction projects. Their responsibilities typically include:
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Lead and manage the Civil Engineering team to ensure the successful delivery of project milestones.
- Develop project schedules and ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate with project managers, procurement, construction, and other engineering disciplines.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure integrated design solutions.
Design and Development:
- Perform structural analysis and design for various structures such as buildings, Steel Structures. towers, retaining structures, Foundations, Tanks / Reservoirs and industrial facilities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., AISC, ACI, ASCE).
- Develop detailed engineering calculations and simulations.
- Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
- Knowledge of inter discipline coordination.
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved.
- Prepare & Review Civil materials technical reports , Method statements , Vendor Technical Clarifications and prepare Technical Bid Evaluation reports. Etc.
Technical Expertise:
- Lead and mentor a team of structural engineers and designers.
- Allocate tasks and provide guidance to ensure effective and efficient project execution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for structural engineering matters within the project team
- Conduct technical reviews and risk assessments.
- Ability to independently execute the detailed design drawings of Civil Site and structural systems of moderate complexity.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.
- Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.
- Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
- Ability to issue clear and concise direction to subordinate designers and drafters.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks. Must be self-motivated, results oriented, and be flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast paced multi-disciplinary team environment

Stake-holder Management:
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and understanding of project requirements.
- Manage interface meetings with Clients and Vendors to progress design scopes
- Evaluate and approve vendor proposals and technical documents.
Budget and Cost Control:
- Monitor project budgets and control costs related to structural engineering activities.
- Optimize design solutions to meet budget constraints without compromising quality and safety.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including specifications, reports, as-built drawings and close-out reports.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of design documents.
- Provide regular progress reports to project stakeholders.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all instrumentation and control activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety within the engineering team and across the project site.
Qualifications:
- Post Graduate Degree (Civil/Structural related)in a related field with min.10 years of related design experience. UAE Equivalency Certificate for the degree is mandatory
- Advance experience in the use of STAAD, ETAB, Mat 3D, SAP, AutoCAD, Civil3D, Ideal Statica,Tekla and Revit, etc or similar software.
- Work experience should emphasize Civil Site and structural design of heavy industrial type facilities.
- Familiar with the provisions of AASHTHO, ASTM, ACI, AISC, ASTM, FHWA, MUTCD, OSHA, UBC and WBDG UFC codes. Knowledge of construction materials and construction details and techniques.
