The Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Lead Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of instrumentation and control systems for petrochemical / industrial projects. This role involves overseeing all aspects of instrumentation and control engineering, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and coordinating with other engineering disciplines to achieve project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Lead and manage the I&C engineering team to ensure the successful delivery of project milestones.
- Develop project schedules and ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate with project managers, procurement, construction, and other engineering disciplines.
Design and Development:
- Develop and review detailed design specifications, engineering documents, and drawings.
- Select appropriate instrumentation and control systems and components to meet project requirements.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Review Instrumentation and Control Systems Vendors offers, prepare Vendor Technical Clarifications and prepare Technical Bid Evaluation reports.
- Hands on experience of multi-disciplinary projects in Concept, and Detail Engineering of field Instrumentation, Control & Monitoring and Safety Shutdown Systems, including DCS, ESD and F&G, in the onshore / offshore O&G and petrochemical environment. Additionally, a practical design knowledge of Telecommunication Systems including CCTV, ACS, PA/GA, Control Systems Networks, Local Area Networks and Telephone Systems is desirable.
- Preparation of Instrumentation engineering deliverables including Specifications, Instrument Datasheets, Logic Diagrams etc.
- Check sizing calculations for Control Valves, Flow Meters, Pneumatic & Hydraulic Power Systems.
Technical Expertise:
- Provide technical guidance and support to the I&C engineering team.
- Conduct technical reviews and risk assessments.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasksMust be self-motivated, results oriented, and be flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast paced multi-disciplinary team environment

Stake-holder Management:
- Liaise with the Instrument Designers, vendors, and sub-contractors to ensure timely delivery and quality of instrumentation and control systems.
- Manage interface meetings with Clients and Vendors to progress design scopes
- Evaluate and approve vendor proposals and technical documents.
Testing and Commissioning:
- Develop and oversee testing and commissioning plans for instrumentation and control systems.
- Ensure proper calibration, installation, and functioning of all instrumentation and control equipment.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including specifications, reports, as-built drawings and close-out reports.
- Provide regular progress reports to project stakeholders.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all instrumentation and control activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety within the engineering team and across the project site.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, / Electrical & Instrumentation, or a related field. UAE Equivalency Certificate for the degree is mandatory
- Master in Instrumentation Engineering / Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering, with a focus on petrochemical projects.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ISA, IEC, ANSI).
- Proficiency in engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, PLC programming, DCS systems).
- Excellent project management and leadership skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment:
- This position may require work in both office and field settings.
- Ability to work in high-pressure environments and meet tight deadlines.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
